The San Diego Chargers television lineup in 2008 features plenty of prime-time coverage as the Bolts will again be the focus of NBC 7/39’s Football Night in San Diego. The show kicks off on Sunday, September 7 following the Indianapolis-Chicago game on NBC and continues each Sunday night during the regular season following NBC’s weekly prime-time Sunday Night Football game.
NBC 7/39 sports anchors Jim Laslavic and Jim Stone will host Football Night in San Diego. The show will feature extensive Chargers highlights, player interviews and a recap of that day’s game, as well as several interactive elements in which viewers can participate.
Chargers Gameday returns to KFMB-TV, Channel 8 and will air each Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. Chargers Gameday is hosted by KFMB Sports Director Kyle Kraska and former Chargers linebacker Billy Ray Smith.
The Bolts’ preseason television coverage has increased as well with a total of eight stations signed up to carry the Chargers’ preseason slate. KFMB-TV will serve as the primary carrier of Chargers preseason football. Ron Pitts will call the play-by-play and Billy Ray Smith will handle the color commentary. The Chargers preseason games also will be carried on television in Spanish in San Diego and Baja, California on Televisa. Carlos Yeme and Anuar Yeme will call the play-by-play and Carlos Melo will handle the color commentary.
Joining KFMB and Televisa in the broadcast of the preseason games are KCBS-TV (Channel 2) in Los Angeles and Orange County; KBAK/KBFX (Channels 29/58) in Bakersfield; KCOY/KKFX (Channels 10/11) in Santa Barbara; KGMB (Channel 9) in Honolulu (August 9 game only); KLAS (Channel 8) in Las Vegas; KMIR/KPSE (Channels 6/13) in Palm Springs; KSWT (Channel 13) in the Imperial Valley and Yuma, Arizona and the NFL Network. All of these stations will carry the team’s Aug. 9 preseason game vs. Dallas, its Aug. 16 game at St. Louis and its Aug. 29 game at San Francisco. The Dallas game will be subject to local blackout rules for all stations except KBAK/KBFX, KCOY/KKFX, KGMB, KLAS and KSWT, which lie outside of the NFL’s 75-mile radius rule that affects local television blackouts. The team’s Aug. 25 game vs. Seattle (ESPN) will be broadcast on national TV.
On radio, all Chargers games will be broadcast on the team’s flagship station, Rock 105.3 FM, with Josh Lewin returning as the voice of the Chargers and Hank Bauer as the color commentator. Jim Laslavic will report from the sidelines during all Chargers home games.
Fans outside of San Diego can tune in and listen to every game on the Chargers Radio Network, which includes KLAC 570 AM in Los Angeles and Orange County; KTMQ 103.3 FM in San Bernardino, Temecula and Riverside; KGEO 1230 AM in Bakersfield; KNWH 1250 AM in Yucca Valley; KNWQ 1140 AM in Palm Springs; KNWZ 970 AM in Coachella Valley; KOSS 1380 AM in Palmdale and Lancaster; KSPA 1510 AM in Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga and the Inland Empire; KWDJ 1360 AM in Ridgecrest; ESPN 1100 AM in Las Vegas, Nevada; KXO 1230 AM in Imperial Valley and Yuma, Arizona and Sirius Satellite Radio.
Chargers games are also broadcast in Spanish by the announcing team of Jorge Villanueva and Adrian Garcia. The Chargers’ Spanish flagship station is XHFG 107.3 FM in San Diego. The games are also broadcast in Spanish on KWKW 1330 AM in Los Angeles and Orange County.
Fans outside of North America can watch nearly every Chargers regular season game live and in its entirety on www.nfl.com/nflgamepass. This service is not available in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, U.S. Territories, Bermuda, Antigua or the Bahamas.
